Washington, D.C. (October 25, 2023) – Brent Booker, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today:
LIUNA congratulates Jessica Looman, a card-carrying Laborer, on her bipartisan Senate confirmation to the position of U.S. Department of Labor Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division. Looman's efforts in the DOL's Wage and Hour Division helped in the proposal and implementation of the most consequential update to the Davis Bacon prevailing wages rules in history. Her work will protect construction workers' pay and strengthen the wage floor in public construction.
Working men and women have the strongest of allies in Looman. She has made her career as an outstanding leader and champion of worker’s rights. She has also helped broker relationships between employers and unions that strengthen our nation, raise labor standards, and make businesses more competitive.
Jessica Looman is a dedicated advocate who has always stood shoulder to shoulder with LIUNA members, working to ensure that the hard and dangerous work LIUNA members do every day is safer and bound by more robust labor standards.
Today’s confirmation is a win for all working men and women. LIUNA sends our heartfelt congratulations and looks forward to continuing to work with Administrator Jessica Looman to improve labor standards.
