Washington, D.C. (January 26, 2024) – Brent Booker, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today:

LIUNA members are celebrating the announced $5 billion investment in jobs and infrastructure. LIUNA was proud to join President Biden for the announcement in Superior, Wisconsin, where a $1 billion investment to replace the Blatnik Bridge connecting Superior, Wisconsin, and Duluth, Minnesota will create jobs for LIUNA members. Without President Biden’s investment in the Blatnik bridge, the bridge was slated for closure due to its deterioration.

 

The investments through the President’s Investing in America Agenda – which includes the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act – are creating hundreds of thousands new jobs building needed infrastructure and spurring a rebirth in domestic manufacturing.

 

President Biden’s agenda is improving the lives and livelihoods of the hard-working men and women of LIUNA and LIUNA is grateful for his commitment to our union and building the middle-class.
