The jurisdiction of LIUNA encompasses many different industries and locations throughout the United States. LIUNA's members have been known to travel to various locations during their career to continue working at the calling.
Therefore, a member may work within the jurisdiction of many different local unions and their participating benefit funds. During the member's career, such mobility may cause coverage for pension, health and welfare benefits to be sacrificed.
With this in mind a National Reciprocal Agreement (NRA) was established for Pension Funds and Health and Welfare Funds in the United States. The NRA's intent is to bridge these gaps and to broaden the benefits available to members through the use of reciprocity.
