Washington, D.C. (August 9, 2022) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today:
LIUNA commends the White House and Congress on the bipartisan CHIPS Act, which the President signed into law today to boost domestic supply chains, create family-supporting jobs, address long-standing underinvestment in our nation’s manufacturing and research and development capabilities, and strengthen our technology infrastructure.
With the prevailing wage requirements included in the CHIPS Act, working men and women are guaranteed that the hundreds of thousands of construction jobs created will provide middle class family-sustaining wages.
LIUNA thanks lawmakers and President Biden for seeing this essential legislation to the finish line. Americans need these critical investments in our technological infrastructure which will ease supply chains, improve our global competitiveness and create good jobs.
