LIUNA congratulates our very own, Laborers’ Local 66 member Joe Smith, Jr. on becoming the WBO light heavyweight champion of the world.

 

In a fight that had the viewers on the edges of their seats, Joe defeated Maxim Vlasov at the Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 11-round fight - with Joe throwing 113 punches in the final three minutes to Vlasov’s 78 - was a testament to his toughness, determination, and true grit.

 

On behalf of the 500,000 strong, proud, and united LIUNA brothers and sisters, we commend and congratulate Joe Smith, Jr. on his incredible win and wish him the best in the future.
