Washington, D.C. (May 5, 2022) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following
statement today:
Today’s signing of the first-ever Project Labor Agreement between North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) and Orsted to construct U.S. offshore wind farms will create thousands of good, family-supporting, middle-class jobs for LIUNA members and our fellow union tradesmen and tradeswomen.
The strong, proud, and united members of LIUNA are grateful for the leadership of NABTU President Sean McGarvey and NABTU Secretary-Treasurer Brent Booker in securing this groundbreaking agreement.
LIUNA is also honored to join with Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, and Director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Amanda Lefton and Members of Congress in celebrating this historic partnership. The Biden Administration’s support for the development of our nation’s energy resources using the highly skilled and experienced members of the building trades has been unparalleled.
The NABTU-Orsted Project Labor Agreement will be a boon to working-men and women that will strengthen our economy and reinforce our domestic energy capacity.
LIUNA looks forward to working with the building trades and Orsted to build our energy future.
