Statement of LIUNA General President Terry O’Sullivan on the Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks
Washington, D.C. (September 11, 2015) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks:
The tragic events of September 11, 2001 will never be forgotten by the Laborers’ International Union of North America, and all of the proud men and women who call themselves Laborers. Our country lost thousands in the 9/11 attacks - fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters. Their absence is felt as sharply today as it was fourteen years ago.
Today is also a day to reflect on the workers; including LIUNA members, who participated so heroically in the 9/11 response and clean-up efforts and later the rebuilding of the World Trade Center and construction of the Flight 93 Memorial. Through their efforts, we were able to rebuild, restore, and prove yet again the spirit of greatness that lies in the heart of every American.
