Washington, D.C. (June 15, 2023) – Brent Booker, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today:

LIUNA commends Representative Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) on the introduction of the Dream and Promise Act and her continued leadership in working to protect Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients and Dreamers. Many thousands of union members in the construction industry as well as union family members have Temporary Protected Status or are DACA recipients. The Dream and Promise Act would help secure a better future for these working men and women and their families. The bill will also give them a path to legal permanent resident status as well as eventual naturalization.

LIUNA is proud to endorse the Dream and Promise Act and urges Congress to bring this legislation to the floor for passage immediately.
