Washington, D.C. (Sept. 25, 2024) — Brent Booker, General President of LIUNA — the Laborers’ International Union of North America — made the following statement in response to Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic plan released today:

Kamala Harris today laid out a concrete plan and clear vision to strengthen our economy so that it better serves the needs of LIUNA members and all working-class men and women.

 

Her plan to cut taxes for working families and lower the cost of childcare and prescription drugs will ease the budget crunch too many workers face. And LIUNA members will welcome her program to build millions of new homes, provide first-time homebuyers with down payment assistance, and punish corporate price gougers. Her program to invest in the future of manufacturing — including clean energy, such as nuclear and geothermal — will create family-supporting union jobs for a generation to come.

 

Vice President Harris’ clear and detailed plans are in stark opposition to her opponent’s record. She will build a union strong and middle-class strong America, because that is where she came from and it is what she believes in. Donald Trump fights for himself and the rich regardless of the cost to our nation.

 

In the coming weeks, LIUNA members will carry the vice president’s message and the union message across battleground states. We will fight to send Kamala Harris to the White House and we look forward to working with her Administration to implement her plan and vision.
