“Her record demonstrates a balanced approach to labor and management relations”
Washington, D.C. (Feb. 27, 2025) — Brent Booker, General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), made the following statement today regarding advancement by the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions of Lori Chavez-DeRemer to be U.S. Secretary of Labor:
On behalf of the more than 530,000 hardworking men and women of LIUNA, we applaud the majority support of the Senate HELP Committee for Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s nomination to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor.
Our members are a skilled and experienced union workforce who build our nation’s critical infrastructure and who provide crucial public services. We learned long ago that working with employers was better for our members and their supervisors. The Labor Department is vital to that balance.
As a member of Congress and as a business owner, Chavez-DeRemer established herself as a friend of workers. Her record demonstrates a balanced approach to labor and management relations. We are proud to be among unions across all sectors of the economy that have endorsed her. We look forward to full Senate confirmation.
