Washington, D.C. (November 7, 2017) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today on election results in New Jersey and Virginia:
Tonight’s election results are a victory for LIUNA members and all working families in Virginia and New Jersey. LIUNA members, who were front and center knocking on doors and making calls, worked hard to help elect Virginia Governor-elect Ralph Northam and New Jersey Governor-elect Phil Murphy because of their commitment to creating good family-supporting jobs and a government that works for everyone.
Both Northam and Murphy are steadfast supporters of the hard-working men and women of LIUNA and are as determined as we are about building our nation’s transportation, water, and energy infrastructure.
Murphy and Northam are leaders who are willing and able to fight for policies that protect and defend our collective bargaining rights and create opportunities for working families. We are proud to have helped elect these working-class champions and look forward to working together to build great infrastructure and support policies that bring prosperity to all working families.
