White House Turns Its Back on Workers Who Have Dedicated Their Lives to National Defense

Washington, DC (March 28, 2025) — Brent Booker, General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) made the following statement:

Late last night the Trump Administration issued an Executive Order that robs American workers of their basic rights.

Trump ran on a platform of fighting for working Americans. Instead, with this Executive Order, the White House has stripped almost a million federal workers of their union rights and representation — merely for exercising those rights. This order is a blatant attack on the fundamental freedoms guaranteed to working Americans and an overt attempt to silence workers.

LIUNA represents thousands of federal workers, many of whom are veterans who served this country in the military and have continued that service as federal civil servants. An attack on one of us is an attack on all — solidarity is at the very heart of our union and one of the main principles upon which we were founded.

For nearly 125 years LIUNA has utilized collective bargaining to ensure good jobs for its members and we intend to continue this work even when the highest office in the land engages in the vile practice of union busting.

LIUNA members stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters across the Labor Movement and we will rise up together to defend our rights.
