Wisconsin Laborers Welcome President Biden Hail Blue-Collar Blueprint to Rebuild America

Washington, D.C. (February 8, 2023) – Terry O’Sullivan, General President of LIUNA – the Laborers’ International Union of North America – made the following statement today:

On behalf of the proud men and women of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, I am honored that President Biden chose to visit the Wisconsin Laborers’ Apprenticeship and Training Center as part of his efforts to share his Blue-Collar Blueprint to Rebuild America. LIUNA commends the Biden Administration on the historic progress made so far, which has resulted in the creation of 12 million jobs and a record-setting drop in unemployment. LIUNA members are seeing real and tangible results through jobs-creating investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Chips and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.

President Biden is the most labor-friendly president in our nation’s history and he is always welcome in LIUNA’s union halls and training centers because we count him as one of our own. He and his Administration have been the strongest of allies in protecting the union rights of working men and women and creating good jobs that strengthen our economy.

At the Wisconsin Laborers’ Apprenticeship and Training Center in Deforest, Wisconsin, President Biden was introduced by LIUNA Local 464 apprentice Sarah Varga today. His support of union training and apprenticeship programs through federal incentives and labor requirements in new policy is helping apprentices like Sarah Varga and her fellow tradesmen and women start careers in construction.

LIUNA members are grateful for the President’s steadfast commitment to creating good, family-supporting jobs and we are standing by to help the President continue restoring our economy and infrastructure.
